What are the different types of earrings?

TURQUOISE POST TYPE EARRINGS

Turquoise earrings are made in three basic types. We see the Native American jewelry designs in dangle, post and stud types. Dangle earrings are usually comprised of a stone or stones set in sterling silver with ear wires attached to the top of the earrings. The earrings will then dangle or drop from the ear lobes which allows for movement when compared to the post or stud types. A wide variety of traditional and contemporary styles of turquoise earrings are popular in this dangle type.

Post earrings are usually a single or multiple stones set is sterling silver and are attached directly to the ear lobes with ear wires soldered on the backs. These earrings show no movement as they are directly pressed against the ear lobes. This type is often preferred by women who wear shorter hair styles with their ear lobes visible. Native American earrings are often made in this post type and are equally popular to the dangle type.

Stud earrings are made with one small stone and set in a sterling silver bezel cup. As with the post type, the ear wires are soldered directly on the backs of the earrings. The result is a very subtle accent to the ear lobes. This type of turquoise earrings are today both very popular with both men and women. Stud types are very often mounted with diamonds, cubic zirconia or other precious and semi-precious faceted gems.
